It’s the Monday after Thanksgiving and you’re…yes, hate to say it…back to work. But let’s just cut to the chase – most of the work you’ll be doing on Monday, November 30 will be centered on sleuthing the internet for the year’s deepest discounts. Right? Right.
Now that we’re all on the same page, let’s talk strategy. Here are four quick tips for making the most of the many amazing Cyber Monday deals that’ll be yours for the taking.
1. Pre-game like a pro
Get your research game in order and do some comparison shopping before the sales roll out at the stroke of midnight. Many retailers provide preview pricing, so do your comparison shopping and bookmark the best deals. And don’t forget the often-overlooked wish list feature that retailers like Anthropologie, Athleta and many more offer. Once the deals go live on Monday, you’ll save time and protect your budget by planning your purchases in advance.
2. Stay awake for the stroke of midnight
Treat yourself to a Sunday evening latte and rally your late night shopping spirits. With your bookmarks and wish lists ready to go, you can score at the best sales and still be asleep by a reasonable hour. If you can’t quite make it ‘til midnight, set an early alarm. True, some deals may be gone by dawn, but there are sure to be plenty of sales to choose from before you head out for the morning commute.
3. Make it a social event
Since many promotions are introduced in the days leading up to Cyber Monday, connecting with your favorite brands and retailers in advance will keep you in the know – and keep you pumped – about the best deals. Plus, day-of sales can always shift, with discounts changing by the hour. Follow your favorite brands on Facebook and Twitter to get up-to-the-minute updates on the best deals.
4. Use your shopping savvy to stay safe
If a sale seems too good to be true…sigh…it probably is. Stick to websites you know and trust. Don’t let an enticing deal on an unfamiliar website cloud your judgment. If a website asks for information you’re not comfortable providing (like your Social Security number!), or just doesn’t seem credible, click your way onto the reputable sites you know and trust.
Be careful to read return policies carefully as well. A deep discount doesn’t do you much good if you’ve ordered the wrong size or color on a nonreturnable item.
It’s really as simple as that! Keep these tips in mind to make the most of your Monday back in the office, or wherever life takes you. The world doesn’t stop for sales, after all – and we’re guessing you’ll have plenty of other things on your plate (turkey anyone?) post-Thanksgiving.
